Guided access allows an adult to "lock" a student into a single app. Once Guided Access is enabled, the student cannot leave the chosen app until Guided Access is disabled.
PART 1: ENABLE GUIDED ACCESS
1. On the device go into the SETTINGS
2. Within SETTINGS
- 2a. Select GENERAL
- 2b. Select ACCESSIBILITY
3. Scroll to the bottom of the Accessibility menu and there will be an option for GUIDED ACCESS, select it. Tap the switch to activate the guided access feature.
PART II: USING GUIDED ACCESS
1. Open the application you would like to lock into guided access.
2. Triple-Click the home button to activate the Guided Access menu. (If you are given an option of different accessibility features, choose "Guided Access")
3. Tap Options on the bottom to turn on or off any of the following:, Side Button, Volume Buttons, Motion (to prevent iPhone from switching from portrait to landscape or from responding to other motions), Keyboards, Touch, Time Limit.
Select "Start" in the top-right corner of the screen. This will prompt you to create a passcode.

4. Guided Access will be started at this point and the student should not be able to exit the chosen application.
Part III: Exiting and Turning off Guided Access
1. To exit Guided Access, Triple-Click the home button to activate the menu again. Enter the same passcode you used to initiate Guided Access, then select END in the left hand corner.
2. Open SETTINGS again.
3. Within SETTINGS
- 2a. Select GENERAL
- 2b. Select ACCESSIBILITY
4. Scroll to the bottom of the accessibility menu and there will be an option for GUIDED ACCESS, select it. Tap the switch to deactivate the guided access feature. You must deactivate Guided Access to prevent your student from accidentally putting themselves back into Guided Access.
